Stoneleigh Convention 2007
| ||||
At the beginning of the beekeeping year in mid April, the British Beekeeping Association (BBKA) hold their annual convention, over two days, at Stoneleigh in Warwickshire. The first day, Friday, is reserved for lectures only whilst on Saturday trade stalls will be open in 3 halls and a choice of 3 concurrently running lecture options are held during most of the day. This year I travelled up by coach organised by members of the Saffron Walden Branch of Essex Beekeepers Association. It was great as I'm geographically challenged and only had to recall the location of where we parked. Robert Pickford was a wonderfully smooth driver, and it was a relaxed and friendly journey. | The trading halls were consistently busy and interestingly the noise level maintained a comfortable buzz, with regular greetings between rarely acquainted beekeepers. There was enough space on the coach for all our purchases, and if you've read other pages, yes, I finally bit the bullet and bought an extractor.
